Spring 2023

This will session will provide an overview for the semester of all the intervention tasks and how EAB/technology can enhance and support the advisor driven outreach.

This workshop will introduce advisors to the value of contributing to scholarship, the process of drafting and submitting manuscripts for publication, and will explore a variety of venues for publication including organization blogs, practitioner newsletters, journals, and even scholarly books.

This session will provide an overview of the Education Abroad office and programs. Information on the role of the academic advisor in a student's education abroad experience will also be discussed.

Safe Zone is a program that builds safe space across campus by visibly identifying students, staff and faculty who support the LGBTQ+ population. The program also offers educational and ongoing engagement opportunities for USC community members to explore and understand issues related to the LGBTQ+ community.

This session will provide an overview of the four technology systems used in advising at USC: EAB Navigate, DegreeWorks, Self Service Carolina, and the My UofSC Experience transcript.

In this interactive workshop, participants will be introduced to the purpose and process of drafting an advising philosophy. Participants will have time to formulate an informal version of their personal philosophy of advising. Interested participants will be paired as accountability partners who assist in the development of one another’s advising philosophy.

This session will provide an overview of Microsoft Excel and functions that are helpful for advisors to use in record keeping and reporting.

Learn more about the My UofSC Experience initiative & how to incorporate it into advising conversations as it provides a more holistic view of a student’s college experience.

This session will cover how advisors can send gentle nudges through email and text messages that seek to identify students’ barriers to registration.

This in-person workshop will focus on providing an overview Appreciative Advising. The six phases of Appreciative Advising – Disarm, Discover, Dream, Design, Deliver, and Don't Settle – will be defined. Participants will not only learn what each phase means, but they will also have the opportunity to learn how to implement each of these phases. *Lunch will be provided.*

Fall 2022

This is a 4-part, cohort-style education series that will allow participants to self-reflect, consider the meaning of DEI in their own lives and advising, and develop a plan for intentionally incorporating DEI into their personal & professional lives. 

Part 3: Developing an Action Plan 

*participants will register once for all four parts.

This in-person workshop will focus on providing an overview Appreciative Advising.
