Academic Advising

Transfer Advising

Transfer students possess a unique set of experiences and needs when they arrive on campus. By providing necessary resources and information related to transferring institutions, students and academic advisors can ensure success at UofSC.

What is a Transfer Student?

The National Student Clearinghouse defines transfer as any change in a student’s initial enrollment institution irrespective of the timing, direction or location of the move, and regardless of whether any credits were transferred from one institution to another.

While transfer students take different pathways to reach UofSC, academic advisors and other student support services are available to assist students with their transition to UofSC.

Areas of Interest

Areas of Interest are groups of individual majors that fall under a larger academic umbrella. Each Area of Interest brings together degree programs that appeal to common interests, use (and teach) similar skill sets, and lead to related career paths. Exploring Areas of Interest can help you match your unique talents and interests with specific degree programs, discover UofSC’s  90+ majors, and make connections between your studies and career possibilities.

Transfer Reflection Activity

The Reflection Activity ask questions to current UofSC transfer students to help reflect on the challenges and successes from the past academic year.  Responses are emailed to advisors for discussion during advisement appointments.  The activity is in collaboration with the Center for Integrative and Experimential Learning.

Challenge the conventional. Create the exceptional. No Limits.
