How to schedule your Pre-Orientation Academic Advising appointment
You must complete Part 1 of the Cocky Transitions modules prior to scheduling an advising appointment. Students who have paid their enrollment deposit and registered for New Student Orientation can access the Cocky Transitions - Part 1 modules through your USC Admissions Portal beginning in May.
On the final page of Cocky Transitions --Part 1, you'll find instructions and a link to schedule your Pre-Orientation Academic Advising appointment.
Get in the habit of checking your USC email for communication from your advisor after completing the Cocky Transitions modules. This is the primary form of communication you will receive from your advisor this summer.
Honors College students: Please refer to the Honors College for information on honors-specific incoming first-year advising processes.
When to schedule your Pre-Orientation Academic Advising appointment
Students will be given access to schedule their appointment through Cocky Transitions - Part 1 based on your New Student Orientation date.
May 7 | Students registered for NSO sessions 1-3 (June 1-2, June 3-4, June 8-9) can begin scheduling
May 21 | Students registered for NSO sessions 4 - 6 (June 10 -11, June 15 -16, June 17 -18) and June 19 Fall Transfer Orientation can begin scheduling
June 4 | Students in all remaining NSO sessions can begin scheduling
Interested in Changing your Major?
If you have decided you want to change your major from what USC has on record, you should meet with an Exploratory Advisor for an Incoming Student Major Change appointment. Exploratory Advisors are professional staff advisors who assist students going through the major change process.
Before May 7 | You will need to change your first-choice major in the Admissions portal. You will schedule your online Pre-Orientation Academic Advising appointment with an advisor in your new major.
After May 7 | You will need to meet with an Exploratory Advisor for an online Incoming Student Major Change appointment. Students will be given access to schedule their appointment after completing Cocky Transitions - Part 1.
NOTE: The Darla Moore School of Business & College of Nursing are not accepting new students through the Admissions Portal. If you are certain you would like to change to one of those majors, it is highly recommended that you meet with an Exploratory Advisor for an online Incoming Student Major Change appointment after you have had your regular Pre-Orientation advising appointment with your admitted major. With the Exploratory Advisor, you will review the process, eligibility requirements, and timeline for these major changes. You can schedule this appointment after completing Cocky Transitions - Part 1.
Students should plan to schedule their Pre-Orientation Academic Advising appointment appointment at least 3 days prior to their registered New Student Orientation session.
