Pre-Health

As a pre-health student, you're interested in medical, dental, physical therapy, or veterinary school, or pursuing graduate studies in another health related field, like epidemiology, health education, prevention, or health care administration. Pre-health students should also consider applying to the Galen Health Fellows Living & Learning Community, a residence option for students who are interested in diverse careers and pathways within the health profession.

Pre-Dental

If you're hoping to get into dentistry as a career, the Honors College can provide the broad liberal arts education professional schools recommend, as well as the more rigorous course requirements. Pre-dental students are expected to gain exposure to dental procedures through shadowing and internships (or volunteering), and meet the criteria that make them a competitive applicant to their chosen dentistry program. Your advisor in the Honors College can help you chart the course to professional school, while helping you meet the requirements to graduate with Honors.

Pre-Physician Assistant

Physician assistants are licensed medical providers who can conduct physical exams, diagnose and treat illnesses, order and interpret tests, assist in surgery and write prescriptions. Application to PA school is highly competitive. In addition to offering Honors sections of program prerequisites (such as chemistry and anatomy), the Honors College’s Beyond the Classroom experience can aid in developing a competitive application.

Pre-Physical Therapy

As with other pre-health tracks, pre-PT does not require a specific major. In consultation with their advisors, pre-PT students will enroll in program pre-requisites, which vary significantly across PT education programs. Though requirements vary, the Honors College offers the most common course prerequisites, including introductory courses in biology, chemistry, physics, and statistics.

Pre-Veterinary

If you're a pre-veterinary student you know you want to work with animals one day, and the Honors College can help get you there. With a large number of honors courses offered in science and math, as well as internship placement assistance, you can get the experience you need to qualify for a professional veterinary program while fulfilling all the Honors requirements for graduation with Honors.
