South Carolina Honors College

Lucas Aust

Ask me about… The College of Engineering and Computing, Professional Fraternities, and Intramural Sports.

My name is Lucas Aust, I am a Junior Computer Information Systems major with a minor in Business Information Management. I’m from Rochester, New York but I’ve made South Carolina my second home. After college I will be pursuing a career in Information Systems.

My advice for prospective students: Never be afraid to reach out and ask the questions that you have. It's likely that hundreds if not thousands of people have had the same question before, so there will nearly always be an answer to your question.

My advice for current students: Continue to get involved. It is a great way to meet people, stay active, and, depending what you are involved in, give back to the community so that you can make the most out of your college experience.

My favorite thing about the Honors College: It has to be the community. To this day I am still friends with all of the people that I met from the Honors College. Some of my favorite memories are from hanging out in the Honors Residence Hall with these friends.

My reason for choosing the SCHC: The support is what convinced me to choose the SCHC. From smaller class sizes where I can build personal connections with my teachers to my personal honors advisor to help me with all the academic questions I have, I never find that my problems are unsolvable.

My hobbies: Sports and Music. I love to play, watch, and talk about sports. I am interested in tennis to the NFL and will always be willing to debate the Lebron or Jordan question. You will rarely see me when I am not listening to music. Some of my favorite artists include Drake, Jay Critch, and Luke Combs.

Song I could listen to non-stop: Is This Love by Bob Marley. This song never fails to make my day better. It makes me feel like I am relaxing at a lake which is my favorite place to be.

My motto in life: Slow down and enjoy it. Taking the time to enjoy the little things in life makes all of my days better.

I’m motivated by: My younger brothers. I have two younger brothers and they mean the world to me. I want to be a positive example in their lives so that they can become successful.

My life goal: Leave a positive impact on as many people as possible. I will measure the success of my life by how many people will say that I was a positive influence in their life. I try to accomplish this by serving the community, making people laugh, and being present for my friends.
