Hello! My name is Tina Sandoval and I am a sophomore, majoring in global studies with a minor in Spanish. I am from right here in Columbia, so clearly I really love this city. I am not really sure what I want to do after college, but I have always found careers related to education very fulfilling.

My advice for prospective students: Don’t forget that no university is a monoculture. Colleges and universities have so many students with diverse interests. No matter where you go, it is possible to find your perfect community.

My advice for current students: Find your passion! Colleges and universities have so many resources and opportunities for students to discover and explore their interests. Take advantage of this!

My favorite thing about the Honors College: I love the added experiences that come with Honors classes that allow you to bond with your classmates. During my first year, I got to visit the Riverbanks Zoo with my honors classmates and that was so much fun. Some of my friends have even traveled outside of the country with their honors classes.

Something that makes me laugh: My bestie, Luke, can always make me laugh. His humor is so witty and always surprises me. Shoutout to Luke for always making me smile.

Skill I’d like to master: Understand all Spanish accents. Every Spanish-speaking country has a different accent, and the different dialects really affect my ability to understand people. I want to become comfortable with Spanish so that I can understand all Spanish speakers.

Favorite movie: Everything, Everywhere, All at Once! I loved the complex plotline, the discussion of mental health within families of color, and the mother/daughter storyline. So good!

My biggest fear: Bugs. They just freak me out. I can't even look at the pretty ones without my skin crawling.
