What drew you to the field of medicine?

My interest in the medical field was kindled at a young age by my father, who is an infectious disease doctor. The way people trusted and relied on him to alleviate their suffering appealed to me. Growing up, my interests in science and research and in giving back to the community further pointed me to medicine. I began volunteering and shadowing at the James H. Quillen Veterans Affairs Medical Center, engaging, escorting patients, and delivering clinical samples to the laboratory for examination. My experiences have confirmed my decision to pursue a career in the medical field.

What are your future plans?

During my time at USC, I plan to spend my time conducting undergraduate research and volunteering and shadowing at the numerous health care facilities in Columbia. I am thinking about going into the field of radiology, but I know that whichever field I choose, I will achieve my goal of providing service to anyone in need and giving back to the community
