This year's Three Minute Thesis competition winners for the University of South Carolina have been announced. The first-place winner will now move on to the regional contest, hosted by the Conference of Southern Graduate Schools. The 3MT competition challenges graduate students to explain their research to a non-expert audience.
First place: Habib Rostaghi Chalaki, Mechanical Engineering Ph.D. candidate
Second place: Michael J. Kaven, Biomedical Engineering Ph.D. candidate
Third place: Julian P. Stetzler, Chemistry Ph. D. candidate
