Susan Schramm-Pate earned her Ph.D. in Educational Administration from Miami University of Ohio, and her M.Ed. in Art Education and B.F.A. from the University of Cincinnati, College of Design, Architecture, Art, & Planning.

Research

Schramm-Pate's research focuses on curriculum studies, diversity and equity.

Courses

Within the Ed.D. Program in Curriculum & Instruction with an emphasis in Curriculum Studies, Schramm-Pate regularly teaches EDCS 723 Understanding Sexual Diversity and the Curriculum; EDCS 724 Gender Diversity in Schools; EDCS 725 Principles of Curriculum Construction; EDCS 821 Curriculum Theory; and EDCS 822 Curriculum Classics: Trends & Issues.

Biography

Susan Schramm-Pate joined the College of Education faculty in 1998 and is an Associate Professor in the Leadership, Learning Design, and Inquiry and program coordinator of the Ed.D. Degree Program in Curriculum & Instruction with an emphasis in Curriculum Studies. She serves as the Graduate Director of for the Women's & Gender Studies degree program and as Faculty Advisor for Girls of Tomorrow, a University of South Carolina student organization that provides an important outlet for students to build leadership skills and enhance their creativity and personal growth and social development. Within the College of Education, Schramm-Pate teaches courses on curriculum history, curriculum theory, curriculum development, gender and sexual orientation studies, and leadership for curricular change. Within Women's & Gender Studies she teaches courses on feminist theory. A former Ohio public school visual art teacher, Schramm-Pate is a graduate of Miami University's (Oxford, Ohio) doctoral program in Educational Administration with a focus in Curriculum Studies. She also holds an M.A. in Art Education and a B.F.A. from the University of Cincinnati's College of Design, Art, Architecture, & Planning.
