Outstanding Senior Awards
The UofSC Outstanding Senior Awards are given by the CEC to graduating seniors from
each degree program. Recipients are faculty recommended and selected based on demonstrated
academic excellence, undergraduate research participation, and active involvement
in the college and university community.

Nolan Foreman, Biomedical Engineering
“Earning this award is a formal recognition of my work to not just succeed but excel
in my field. I am beyond grateful as it reassures me that I have left a mark on this
program and university. I am extremely proud of the work I have done and know that
I am on the right track towards a challenging yet rewarding and fulfilling career.
I have honed my leadership skills in several student organizations, performed research
and worked as a teaching assistant, while pursuing my passion for music with the Carolina
Band and University Band.
The biomedical engineering program specifically has prepared me for anything with
its rigorous curriculum and hands-on approach to learning. I would like to give a
special thanks to Dr. [Melissa] Moss and her two Ph.D. candidates, Brittany Watson
and Jane Lim, for providing a stimulating and supportive lab environment. Also, thank
you to Dr. [Esmaiel] Jabbari and Dr. [Silke] Henrich for trusting in my knowledge
and allowing me to work as a teaching assistant. I am immensely grateful for this
university, and I would not trade any of my experiences here for the world.”
South Carolina Society of Professional Engineers Outstanding Senior Awards
The South Carolina Society of Professional Engineers Outstanding Senior Awards are
given to graduating seniors in seven CEC degree programs. Recipients are faculty recommended
and selected based on demonstrated academic excellence and contributions to the engineering
profession.

Hailee Cook, Biomedical Engineering
“Winning the SCSPE award for my academics lets me know that my professors and the
biomedical engineering faculty recognize my achievements and support me in my pursuit
to hold myself to the highest standard. It also reassures me that sometimes all I
can do is my best, and my best is enough.
I’ve had amazing professors in the program. I can genuinely say that I always felt
that they wanted every student to succeed as long as they put in the effort required
to get there. They may not realize it, but they’ve been some of my strongest motivators
to continue working hard, knowing that they believe in me. I’ve also had some great
teaching assistants who accommodated me throughout the last year, while working full-time
and finishing my undergraduate degree. They’ve allowed me to pursue not only educational
goals but also personal goals, such as starting a career and working to buy a home.”
