About the Fellow
John “Parks” Rogers is the Baldwin Business Faculty Fellow. He leads the college’s efforts in business and financial journalism and provides opportunities for students in industry-immersion programs.
The Baldwin Business Faculty Fellow's responsibilities are three-fold: teaching/mentoring business and financial journalism in and out of the classroom; community and industry engagement; and program development.
The position leads the College of Information and Communication's efforts in business and financial journalism and provides opportunities for students in industry-immersion programs. The role encompasses curriculum development and building partnerships with news organizations and connecting students to high-impact professional conferences such as the Society for Advancing Business Editing and Writing and internships.
Student-Written Business and Financial News Articles
The series includes student-written articles on South Carolina’s economy and business community, covering topics such as unemployment, inflation, manufacturing data and economic forecasts. Other stories profile businesses and business owners, while some are based on company press releases that students rewrite as traditional inverted-pyramid news stories.
