The Level One course is available to all academic advisors who have completed Advising
Foundations. Advisors may be Level One certified after completing the online training
component and experiential learning requirements.
Level One Training
The following outline provides an overview of the material covered in each module
of Level One. Select demonstration videos are also available.

Level One Experiential Learning
In order to complete Level One Certification, you must complete the Experiential component
which includes the 5 items below:
Provide academic advisement to at least 50 unique students since beginning employment
Use EAB Navigate with the majority/all of advisees to enter appointment notes
Use DegreeWorks to enter advised course schedule and/or relevant curriculum information
Complete the 'GPA Calculations' exercise
Complete the 'Navigating the Bulletin' exercise
Level One Rewards
*NOTE - All advisor certification rewards are on hold due to COVID-19 budget restrictions.
Advisors are encouraged to continue the training & certification process. Certification
will continue to be tracked and rewards will be provided in the future as the budget
Advisors who successfully complete both components of Level One receive a Certificate of Completion and a reward of a one-year membership to the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA).
