The Academic Terminology document [pdf] includes terms from Academic Affairs (ACAF) policy, Carolina Core, and additional terms that are defined and useful when discussing and thinking about curriculum.
The Academic Affairs (ACAF) Policy Summaries document [pdf] includes a summary of the policies most often used with the curriculum approval process: ACAF 2.00, ACAF 2.03, 3.00, and 3.50. The entire policies are available on the Provost’s website.
The Curriculum Approval Process document [pdf] shows the levels of approval for both courses and programs, as well as dates to remember and effective dates in the curriculum approval process. The process for curricular actions is also displayed in the APPS Approval Flowchart.
The Director of Undergraduate Curriculum Management and other members of the Curriculum Management Team are available to discuss curricular matters such as: new or modifications to courses and programs, curriculum change process information, bulletin information, major maps, DegreeWorks functionality, etc. Schedule a consultation using the form callout on the right.
The Curriculum Management Workflowdiagram shows how the Curriculum Management Team works with faculty within the curriculum approval process.
The Director of Undergraduate Curriculum Management is happy to meet with departments to provide an overview of Curriculum Management. The Curriculum Management PowerPoint presentation and manual are provided here for easy access. The manual is a combination of many of the individual documents also available on this resources page.
The Program of Study is the basic structure for all undergraduate degrees, as described in ACAF 2.00. It is made up of four main components, with only two of those (Carolina Core and Major Requirements) being required to create a degree. All degree requirements should adhere to the components and sub-components of the Program of Study.
