Inheriting Banner Images

The same banner image can be inherited across a section. This functionality is configured in page properties for the _section.prop.pcf files and pages within the section. Caption headline and description cannot be inherited and does not have to be provided.

Watch the Video (08:36) and review the accompanying instructions.

  • Inheriting Banner 1

    1. Configure the banner image in the _section.prop.pcf file of the main section. Check out the main _section.prop.pcf file by clicking on its light bulb (A). Hover over it and select Properties (B) from the Edit menu.

  • Inheriting Banner 2

    2. In the Banner area of the Properties form,  select Custom (C). Click on the File Chooser (D) and navigate to the banner image (825 x 350 px). Update the Single Image Alt Text (E) with an informative description of the image.  Click Save to save the changes. Publish the file.

  • Inheriting Banner 3

    3. Update pages within the main section to inherit the banner image. All or just select pages can be set to inherit the image. To do that, for each page, check out the page and select Properties from the Edit menu as described above. In the Banner area of the Properties form, select Inherit (F) for Banner Source. Publish the updated pages.

    4. Update child sections to inherit the banner image. All or just select child sections can be set to inherit the image. For each child section where the image will be inherited, check out its _section.prop.pcf file, hover over it and select Properties from the Edit menu as described above. In the Banner area of the Properties form,  select Inherit for Banner Source. Additionally, update each page within the child sections where the image will be inherited in the same way - access its page properties and select Inherit for Banner Source. Publish the section.prop.pcf file and all updated pages within the child section.
