Sections and Pages

Most of the content for the site will be built by creating new sections rather than new pages. This allows expanding the content later on if needed by creating additional nested sections to show as child links in the left navigation. Sections should be built according to how they should appear in the left navigation since each section can only link to its subsections or pages and cannot link to other independent sections.

Sections are special folders that contain three different types of files:

  • index.pcf - the main page for the section that displays its left navigation and where content for the section is added.
  • _leftnav.inc - a file that contains the left navigation links. Links to index pages for subsections  and to non-index pages visible at this level are maintained here.
  • _section.prop.pcf - manages common parameters for all pages in a section.
  •

New sections are created by first navigating to the correct location within the site, then clicking on New (A)  and selecting the New Section template (B).

    Very Important

Always use the New Section template!

Never attempt to create a new section for the site with Create a new folder (C). This option should only be used to create new folders that will ONLY contain images or documents (PDF, Word, etc).
