Background

Shana Watson spent four years teaching first grade in Orangeburg and Richland county school districts where she was nominated for 2017-2018 teacher of the year.  

Teaching

Watson is an instructor for the University 101 Program and teaches University 101 . Watson is also an adjunct instructor for the School of Information Science and teaches Storytelling: Theory, Practice, and Development, Children’s Literature, and LIS internships.

Awards

Spring 2023 recipient of the Two Thumbs Up Award from the USC Student Disability Resource Center for "having gone above and beyond to accommodate students."

Nominated for: 1) Stuart Hunter Award for Outstanding Teaching in University 101 and 2) Ada B. Thomas Outstanding Advisor Award.

Personal

Watson is currently working on a doctorate in Education System Improvements at USC. In her free time, she enjoys reading, yoga, true crime podcasts and documentaries. Watson lives in Columbia with her daughter and two dogs Boss and Phoebe.
