The University of South Carolina College of Information and Communications is pleased to announce the appointment of Suzy Deering, a seasoned leader in global marketing and communications, as its new executive-in-residence starting in Spring 2025.
Known for her high-profile roles as global chief marketing officer at Ford Motor Company and eBay, Deering brings star-level industry experience and a proven track record of leadership. Her appointment reflects the college’s dedication to providing students with unparalleled access to top-tier expertise and mentorship.
“Suzy believes in the power of higher education to change lives and propel people forward,” says CIC Dean Tom Reichert. “We’re thrilled to have her direct some of that enthusiasm toward our students. Her passion for helping students achieve their best and prepare for workforce success is unmatched.”
The executive-in-residence title is an honorific distinction awarded to individuals committed to supporting the college’s mission of preparing students to excel in the rapidly evolving world of communication and information. Deering will play a supportive role in enhancing student development and strengthening industry connections.
As the executive-in-residence, Deering will:
- Be available for strategic advice to the CIC dean and leadership team on key initiatives.
- Contribute to the college’s women’s leadership initiatives.
- Engage directly with students and faculty by sharing insights into industry trends as a featured speaker and classroom guest.
- Collaborate with the CIC advisory council, providing valuable perspectives and fostering professional connections.
