Responsibilities
Hannah Shikle advises undergraduate students in the College of Information and Communications.
Background
Shikle has a background in filmmaking. As a senior at the University of South Carolina,
she was recipient of a Magellan Scholar Award to collaborate on video essays with
Professor Susan Felleman (Film and Media Studies and Art History). Their video essay
"Four Ways to Be a Woman Artist ... According to the Movies" was published in the
peer-reviewed academic journal [in]Transition 9.2 (2022).
Shikle presented her own video essay, "A Desert Journey in Nine Parts," at the Theory
& Practice of the Video Essay conference at UMass Amherst 2022. Her master's thesis
project, "Voyageur du temps: Gérard Depardieu & French Identity," was an Official
Selection at the Orlando Film Festival 2022 and a Semi-Finalist at the Flickers’ Rhode
Island International Film Festival 2022.
Personal
Shikle has a special interest in art history having minored in it in undergrad. She enjoys visiting art museums when she travels. Among her favorites are the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston and the Musée de l'Orangerie in Paris.
