Representatives from Truth Initiative, America’s largest anti-smoking nonprofit, will visit the University of South Carolina for a special guest lecture on Thursday, October 12.

The presentation, titled “Uncovering the Power Behind the Truth Initiative,” will take place at 6 p.m. in the School of Journalism and Mass Communications auditorium (room 106).

The event is free and open to the public.

Truth Initiative Chief Marketing Officer Eric Asche and Chief Research Officer Donna Vallone will discuss the now-legendary social marketing effort that helped to bring teen cigarette use to a record low of seven percent. In particular, Asche and Vallone will examine strategy, execution and behavior change.

Truth Initiative was founded and is funded by the 1998 tobacco settlement, originally called the American Legacy Foundation. Learn more about the organization at truthinitiative.org.

The School of Journalism and Mass Communications is located at 800 Sumter Street.
