Celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the School of Information Science

Come home to Davis College and celebrate 50 years with us!

Save the date for Saturday, April 30 from 2-5 p.m. for the School of Information Science's 50th anniversary celebration. Join us for a keynote address from Honorable Charles F. Bolden Jr. in the Russell House Ballroom, followed by a reception in Davis College. 


But while you are here . . .

We hope you'll join us for a wonderful spring weekend in Columbia. Other events happening during the weekend include:

  • UofSC Baseball Game v. Alabama - Friday at 7 p.m.
  • Soda City on Main Street - Saturday from 9 a.m to 1 p.m.
  • Visit McKissick Museum - Open Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
    Located on the historic Horseshoe, McKissick Museum is free and open to the public, making it a great day trip for  anyone interested in the story of Southern life. The museum is home to more than 140,000 objects, including one of the most extensive natural science collections in the Southeast. View the current exhibitions.
  • Anne Frank Center Tours - Saturday at 10 a.m. and noon 
  • Horseshoe walking tour with university archivist Elizabeth West - Saturday at 4 p.m. 

    Email Jeanna Holmes at holmesj2@mailbox.sc.edu if you would like to sign up for the Anne Frank Center tours or the Horseshoe tour. Anne Frank Center tours are first come, first served and are limited to 15 participants in each tour.

The celebration will start in the Russell House Ballroom.  The Russell House is located at 1400 Greene St., 29205.

The celebration will continue at Davis College after the keynote address is over. 
Davis College is located at 1501 Greene St, Columbia, SC 29208.

Russell House and Davis are a short three-minute walk from one another.

Light hors d'oeuvres and refreshments will be served. Visit the Davis College history room, view pictures from the past 50 years and mingle with colleagues both old and new.
