What I got [at the Stamps Scholar National Convention] was some of the most fulfilling experiences I've ever had. The talks covered meaningful and important topics, activities focused on how actions ripple into large impacts and my fellow scholars were amazing. It was a whirlwind, but when I left, I found myself reluctant: I had found my people.

Career plans: I want to design and build unique robots that can save human lives by going in to and operating throughout difficult areas. Whether that be underwater, high-radiation, disaster or spacefaring environments, I want to be on the teams behind robots that help humans explore, analyze and operate where humans can't go.

Most impactful experience: On of the most impactful experiences I ever had was acting as a teacher for the UofSC TRiO Upward Bound Summer Robotics course. I taught students from underserved high-schools about robotics and engineering, showing them the wonder and interest there is in creating to solve. It really showed me how there is potential for an engineer in anyone, anywhere; all it takes is the right cultivation.

Best part of the Top Scholars program: Being a top scholar provides a community of people who are committed to doing their best in and out of school, and it really helps me feel like I'm not alone. When I seek extra challenge outside of the classroom, I know other scholars are there: either to cheer me on or push me to do better. It's an unparalleled experience that really helps me feel cared for at UofSC.

UofSC Story: When I visited the 2019 Stamps Scholar National Convention, I expected my weekend to be generic: a few talks, stuffy clothes and hours in chairs. What I got was the complete opposite - an exhausting weekend of running around the Georgia Tech campus, trying to keep to schedule... and some of the most fulfilling experiences I've ever had. The talks covered meaningful and important topics, activities focused on how actions ripple into large impacts and my fellow scholars were amazing. If I found myself alone, all I had to do was say "Hi" and I had 4 new acquaintances inviting me to deep discussions, hilarious jokes and fun stories. It was a whirlwind, but when I left, I found myself reluctant: I had found my people.
