My UofSC study abroad experience in Paris, France provided me the opportunity to further develop a multicultural perspective about the world around us.
Impactful Experience:
One of the most impactful experiences I’ve had inside the classroom here at UofSC
was during my time in Honors Homelessness in South Carolina. Many of us in the class
volunteered at local homeless shelters and organizations around Columbia, and through
this I got to develop a deeper understanding of the local community that immediately
surrounds our campus.
Enjoy most as a TS:
What I enjoyed most about being a Top Scholar was getting to connect with my fellow
classmates in the Top Scholar community. It allowed me to form friendships with like-minded
individuals that I most likely wouldn’t have met otherwise, and I think I will cherish
those memories for a long time to come.
Story:
I think the defining class of my undergraduate career was my Honors Travel and Tourism
in Film and Literature class. That class pushed me to reflect on my time abroad in
ways I had never thought to consider, while also exploring the complexities of many
places and cultures I would never get to experience in person. I often saw a lot of
myself in the film/book characters as they went through culture shock, overcame language
barriers, and ultimately opened themselves to the unfamiliar. This sort of resilience
was essential to these characters’ development, and I hope to demonstrate a similar
level of resilience for any future obstacles that may come my way.
Post-graduate plans:
Unknown at this time, still waiting on decisions from medical school.
Career goals/professional aspirations:
I hope to attend medical school so I can pursue my goal of becoming a physician.
