Decatur High School

International business and economics
Serving as Executive Director of Gamecock Pantry taught me how much the work I do can recharge me even when it’s demanding, and also to always ensure that my career is making an impact in the world in an arena I care about.
Impactful experience:
My sophomore spring, I represented the Darla Moore School of Business at the school’s
black tie Centennial Gala. As part of the application for the opportunity, I had written
a short note of appreciation as if I were addressing Darla Moore, thanking her for
her generosity and explaining the impact she had had on me and my peers. At the Gala,
Dean Brews read my words aloud to the entire audience, including Darla Moore, who
was in attendance. After the event, I was able to meet her. She’s even more impressive
in person and is the kind of woman I want to become. I left awestruck and inspired.
It was an experience beyond words.
Enjoy most as a TS:
Living with Alex Stevens. Truly, the Top Scholar program has given me some of the
best friends of my life. It’s a privilege to get to grow and learn alongside these
spectacular people.
Story:
I grew up a Dawgs fan and was sure that, no matter how much I would come to love USC,
my devotion to the Dawgs could never be matched. Having officially spent my last time
in the student section for a game in Willy-B, I can say with absolutely certainty
that I was wrong. The roar of the stadium, the electricity of Sandstorm, cheering
on the Gamecocks packed shoulder to shoulder with 6,000 other students who love the
university as much as I do; there’s nothing like it. That sense of pride and community,
not just with other Top Scholars or other honors students but with everyone who attends
this university, will stay with me forever.
Post-graduate plans:
Nancy will work for McKinsey & Company's Charlotte, NC office as a business analyst.
Career goals/professional aspirations:
I intend to work in international development economics, with a focus on promoting
gender equality via the economic emancipation of women.
