As a nursing major, I get to spend several days per week in local hospitals for my clinical experiences. Using my gifts to help others during their lowest times is fulfilling and makes the difficult coursework so worth it.

Career plans: After finishing my Bachelor of Science in Nursing, I hope to gain some experience on an acute care unit before returning to school to earn my Doctorate of Nursing Practice to become a Nurse Practitioner.

Most impactful experience: As a nursing major, I get to spend several days per week in local hospitals for my clinical experiences. Using my gifts to help others during their lowest times is fulfilling and makes the difficult coursework so worth it.

Best part of the Top Scholars program: My favorite thing about the Top Scholar program is being surrounded by driven individuals who always push you to be your best. My fellow Top Scholars have never doubted my capabilities, and in turn, have increased my confidence in myself as a student, a scholar, and a young professional.

UofSC Story: I never envisioned myself enjoying maternal/newborn nursing, but my research on kangaroo care (alongside Dr. Robin Dail) and my labor and delivery clinical changed my life. I found myself extremely passionate about helping families through this process, and I am now considering labor and delivery as a possible nursing career path.
