Applications open for a 12-month Faculty Fellow position in Health, Science, Information and Communication

The College of Information and Communications at the University of South Carolina  invites applications for a 12-month Faculty Fellow position in Health, Science, Information and Communication at the rank of Research Assistant Professor to join USC’s Bridge to Faculty program, effective August 16, 2024.

Bridge to Faculty is a program designed to recruit talented early-career scholars as Faculty Fellows at the rank of Research Assistant Professor with the goal to transition them to tenure-track faculty members after two years. Bridge to Faculty aims to attract and retain promising scholars with an emphasis on underrepresented early-career scholars.

The CIC comprises two nationally accredited programs, the School of Journalism and Mass Communications and the School of Information Science. 

The college is seeking applications from outstanding scholars whose research trajectory contributes to the understanding of health information and communication disparities and strengthens the college’s existing research missions and initiatives aimed at addressing health disparities and social justice. Candidates with non-traditional research methodologies (e.g., applied research, community-based research, or indigenous research approaches) may also be considered. The Fellow will be expected to demonstrate a constant effort to produce quality research output resulting in publication in respected journals and presentations at national conferences. The Fellow will also engage in external grant training and seeking activities.

Required Education and Experience

Terminal degree is preferred or related field prior to start.

We invite applications from outstanding scholars who will have completed a doctoral degree with specializations in health communication, health science, communication studies, information science, journalism, media or related field between July 1, 2019, and August 16, 2024.
