Provides funding for PhD program at participating institutions.
The Doctoral Scholars Program offers two awards: the Doctoral Award and Dissertation Award. The Doctoral Award offers three years of direct program support and two years of institutional support from the scholar's college in the form of a $20,000 annual stipend. Each recipient also is awarded up to five years of university-covered tuition and fees (unless the institution prohibits a fee waiver). In addition, the program provides professional development support and covers expenses associated with attending the annual Compact for Faculty Diversity Institute on Teaching and Mentoring. The student must attend a participating institution in a participating state.
The dissertation award provides the same benefits but is for a single year for students who have completed all course work and comprehensive/ preliminary exams and have defended (or will defend) the dissertation prospectus successfully before the academic year begins.
$20,000 per year for 3-5 years (doctoral award) or $20,000 for one year (dissertation award).

Provides one year of support to complete a dissertation leading to a PhD or ScD degree for individuals committed to teaching at the college or university level. One-year stipend of $25,000, and expenses to attend one Conference of Ford Fellows.
