About this Fellowship
The Churchill Scholarship provides funding to American students for a year of master’s study at the University of Cambridge, based at Churchill College, for the pursuit of research and study in the physical and natural sciences, mathematics, and engineering.
The program was set up at the request of Sir Winston Churchill in order to fulfil his vision of US–UK scientific exchange with the goal of advancing science and technology on both sides of the Atlantic, helping to ensure our future prosperity and security.
Selection criteria include academic excellence, proven talent in research, and outstanding personal qualities.
Applicants must apply for university nomination. USC can nominate two students per cycle. Contact our office no later than July 1 of your application year if you are interested in applying for nomination.
Award Value
Approximately $60,000 to cover tuition and fees, a living allowance (£11,803 for 9-month programs, £13,447 for 11-month programs, and £14,777 for full-year programs), a travel allowance (up to $1,500), as well as the possibility of funds for a Special Research Grant of up to $2,000.
