About this Fellowship

The Luce Scholars Program is a nationally competitive fellowship that offers early career leaders immersive, professional experiences in Asia.

Deadlines are typically in October, but be sure to check the competition website for the current cycle’s deadline.

This is a nationally competitive fellowship that aims to forge stronger relationships across geographic borders by creating opportunities for young Americans to deepen their ties and understanding of the countries, cultures, and people of Asia. The program is focused on supporting people from a wide range of fields who have had limited exposure to Asia—and who might not otherwise have an opportunity to come to know Asia intimately.

Candidates may be graduating seniors, recent graduates, and young professionals under the age of 32 at the time they depart for Asia or no more than three years out from receiving bachelor’s degree. Unlike in previous years, candidates are no longer required to obtain a nomination or endorsement from an approved partner institution.

Award Value

Awardees receive a stipend, intensive language training, an individualized professional work placement relevant to their interests, and regular meetings with support staff and the full cohort.
