About this Fellowship
Two-year paid fellowship for recent college graduates interested in conservation and clean energy.
The RAY Fellowship Program aims to increase and facilitate conservation, energy efficiency, and renewable energy-related career pathways for emerging leaders of color. The RAY Fellowship Program is designed to equip recent college graduates with the tools, experiences, support, and community they need to become leaders in the conservation and clean energy sectors—one that fully represents, includes, and is led by the diverse communities, perspectives, and experiences of the United States.
Eligible applicants will be recent graduates (within three years of program start) who identify as a person from a historically marginalized group with an interest in the conservation and/or clean energy fields.
The RAY Fellowship Program looks for applicants that demonstrate:
- Passion, capacity, and transformational potential to exercise leadership and respond to social and environmental challenges
- Commitment to the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion within the environmental and social change fields
- Willingness to actively contribute to the Fellowship and take advantage of its benefits including eagerness to connect with and learn from others
- The desire to be active in and give back to community – their own and the large RAY Community during and after the fellowship
- Transformational potential to benefit greatly from the Fellowship’s opportunities and experience

Award Value
All RAY Fellowship positions are full-time paid positions with competitive entry-level salaries plus benefits. All Fellows will also receive a stipend of $1,000 to go towards professional development opportunities.

Udall Scholarship
Scholarship for those with a demonstrated record of leadership, public service, and a commitment to careers related to the environment. Up to $7000 for tuition, room, board or other educational expenses, and attendance at 4-day annual Udall Scholar Orientation in Tuscon AZ.
NOAA Sea Grants
These are a category of awards given by NOAA, some at the federal level and many at the state level, for educational and/or professional experience in a variety of areas in marine science and policy. Varies based upon program, but may include tuition benefits or salary depending upon type of program.
NOAA Margaret A. Davidson Graduate Fellowship
The Davidson Fellowship is a two-year fellowship program that places one graduate student at each of the 29 national estuarine research reserves. Through a research project, fellows address a key reserve management need to help scientists and communities understand coastal challenges that may influence future policy and management strategies. up to $45,000 in direct costs. Direct costs should support the fellows and their research and may include stipend, supplies, travel, and tuition.
