About this Fellowship
Provides a grant for short-term (one to two month) research in Germany.
This is a specialized DAAD program designed to encourage research and promote the study of cultural, political, historical, economic and social aspects of modern and contemporary German affairs from an inter- and multidisciplinary perspective.
All applicants are expected to have completed two years of college-level German language studies and a minimum of three courses in German Studies (literature, history, politics or other fields) at the time of nomination. Applicants must be enrolled full-time and be nominated by the professor supervising their research project.
Deadlines are typically twice annually in May and November. Refer to the program website for details and deadline information.

Award Value
Research support ranging in value from $2,000 to $3,000 is available to individual scholarship recipients.

Short- or long-term research grant for PhD students or post docs to conduct research in Germany. Accepted applicants are provided a monthly stipend of 1400 Euro, health insurance, and travel stipend. For grants longer than 6 months, recipients receive a research allowance of 460 Euros and additional funding for German language study is also available.
Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange for Young Professionals
Yearlong fellowship in Germany that includes intensive language study, a semester of coursework, and a semester-long internship. In addition to providing a monthly stipend, the program covers the cost of round-trip international airfare, 2 months of intense German language study, tuition for one semester of study, housing, program-related travel, and health insurance in Germany.
