Founded in 2019, the Moore School’sApplied AI & Data Lab—formerly the Data Lab—is a hands-on learning hub that helps students become data
proficient, AI fluent, and future-ready.
The lab supports students as they build from essential Excel and spreadsheet-modeling
skills to more advanced statistical analysis and machine-learning methods. Students
also receive hands-on support with analytical and programming tools such as R and
Python, helping them understand, apply, and communicate effectively using the tools
and approaches common in today’s workplace.
As part of its evolving mission, the lab is expanding its emphasis on generative AI.
Students learn not simply how to use AI, but how to use it effectively and responsibly:
prompting with purpose, critically evaluating outputs, understanding governance considerations,
and applying sound professional judgment in real-world business contexts.
The Applied AI & Data Lab helps studentstransform data into decisions and AI into business value. AI fluency is becoming the new spreadsheet literacy—a foundational capability for
business professionals across nearly every discipline, whether or not “AI” appears
in the job description.
