Business Analytics Undergraduate Concentration

Why Study Business Analytics

Today and into the future, business success demands constant innovation and creativity, coupled with a keen understanding of business analytics. While all Moore School students are immersed in high-level analytics as part of their functional majors, students also have the option of adding a concentration in business analytics to their undergraduate degree.

This concentration allows you to combine your core business foundation with an understanding of advanced analytical techniques to enhance your skillset and better prepare you for your future career.


Academic Requirements

The Business Analytics concentration requires four courses (12 credit hours) of coursework. Please note that the requirements for accounting majors differ than other majors. See below for a full list of requirements for accounting majors.

Required Course for Non-Accounting Majors (3 credits)

  • MGSC 394: Data Analytics for Business

Electives for Non-Accounting Majors (12 credits)

Choose three courses from the following, each of which has significant analytics applied in the area of study:

  • ACCT 404: Accounting Information Systems I
  • ECON 436: Introductory Econometrics
  • FINA 444: Corporate Risk Management
  • FINA 469: Investment Analysis and Portfolio Management
  • FINA 472: Student-Managed Investments
  • MGMT 425: HR Analytics
  • MGSC 390: Business Information Systems
  • MGSC 486: Service Operations Management
  • MKTG 352: Principles of Marketing Research
  • MKTG 447: Pricing Strategy and Analytics

Academic Requirements for Accounting Majors

Required Courses (6 credits)

  • ACCT 404: Accounting Information Systems I
  • MGSC 394: Data Analytics for Business

Electives (6 credits)

This program is open to all currently enrolled Moore School undergraduate students.

No separate application is needed to apply for the Business Analytics concentration. Simply inform your academic advisor that you want to add the concentration and they will add the concentration to your profile.
