Spring & Summer 2020 Virtual Commencement

Updated on: July 13, 2020

On July 11, President Caslen informed students that the University of South Carolina would host a virtual commencement ceremony on August 8, 2020 at 12 noon. While the university tentatively scheduled an in-person ceremony to be held the same day, the marked increase in COVID-19 cases in recent weeks makes it inadvisable to host large, in-person gathering. Therefore, the university has canceled the tentative in-person event and will exclusively offer the virtual ceremony. Graduates will be invited back to attend our next in-person ceremony once we are able to resume large gatherings.

Virtual Commencement

The Spring/Summer 2020 Virtual Commencement will be available to UofSC graduates and the general public on the University website at 12 noon on August 8, 2020. The virtual ceremony will include all UofSC colleges and all degree levels and individual recognition of all graduates.  The Graduate School will prepare some special messages for our doctoral graduates to supplement this virtual ceremony.

The Virtual Ceremony will include congratulatory statements from the University President, College Deans and Palmetto College leadership.

The names of students who graduated in Spring 2020 or applied to graduate in Summer 2020 graduation from the Columbia or Palmetto College Campus will be displayed and announced during the virtual ceremony. School of Law and Doctoral graduates and candidates from the Columbia campus will also be included in the presentation of names.
