Devon Taylor (MHR ’12), ExxonMobil HR Staffing and Development Advisor
What brought you to the Master of Human Resources program?
I studied international business at the Moore School in undergrad. I first heard about
the MHR program when representatives visited one of my undergrad classes and talked
about the program. After some additional research, I realized that HR truly was an
exciting field. HR can take you wherever you want to go as you are not limited to
working in one particular industry, and that was exciting for me. The Moore School’s
MHR program is highly regarded and a program of choice for top employers, which helped
to solidify my decision.
What did you enjoy most about the program?
The thing I enjoyed most about the program is the network I was able to build with
the students, faculty and staff. I met some of my closest friends, who are still the
people I go to when I need to explore ideas or gain new perspectives.
How do you use your degree day-to-day in your job?
As far as what I learned, no matter what, whenever you go into a company, it’s going
to be different. This program gave me the foundational knowledge to go into the workforce
and hit the ground running. The MHR program challenges you, makes you stronger as
a person, and shows companies that you have the knowledge, skills, capability and
drive to succeed.
