Darla Moore School of Business

Message from the Dean: Sam Laundon

Dear Moore School Community,

It is with deep sadness that we mourn the tragic loss of Moore School student Sam Laundon.

Sam was a sophomore international business major who was part of the International Business of the Americas (IBA) cohort program. He spent the last several years studying Spanish and was looking forward to studying abroad in 2022 at the Universidad de Chile in Santiago, Chile, where he was planning to immerse himself in Chilean and Latin American culture and economics. Sam had many interests and was in the process of deciding between a career in economics, accounting or operations and supply chain.

Faculty and staff describe Sam as extremely intelligent, kind and humble with a vibrant personality and a smile that could light up a room. He was also a brilliant and academically gifted student who no doubt would have leveraged his education and experiences in Chile into a wonderful international career.

We offer our heartfelt prayers and condolences to Sam’s family, friends and loved ones. All cry for the life that will now not be lived and for the loss of such a bright star that was just beginning to show its full light to the world.

To you who were touched by Sam during his life or in his passing, mourn for a time, yet never forget. Honor his memory by leading a life that exemplifies his kindness, humility and positivity.

For his fellow students and the faculty and staff who knew him, please know that counseling services are available through USC Student Health Services.

Sam, you were taken from us far too soon but you will be forever in our hearts.

Forever to Thee,

Peter Brews
