Background

Karoline Summerville is an assistant professor in the management department at the Darla Moore School of Business. She received her Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, her master’s degree from Wake Forest University and her bachelor’s degree from Queens University of Charlotte. Her research leverages innovative technological methods to understand the variety of factors and experiences related to diversity across multiple identity dimensions at once (e.g., race and ethnicity, class, gender) in organizations. Her expertise centers on the dynamics of intersectionality to provide a nuanced understanding of how people from diverse backgrounds experience and navigate organizational cultures, policies, and practices. Her research has been published in the Journal of Applied Psychology, Leadership Quarterly and the Journal of Business and Psychology.
