UofSC's exchange program at National Chengchi University (NCCU) in Taiwan is designed to expose students to the life and culture of the Taiwanese people. Taipei is the commercial, governmental, and cultural center of Taiwan. Characterized by its friendly people, Taipei is a modern, high-tech city with a bustling nightlife, museums, ancient temples, and exquisite cuisine. With a total population of six million people, greater Taipei will offer students a unique experience while allowing easy access to other parts of Asia. National Chengchi University hosts over 14,000 students every year, and over 780 of those students are international. The university offers courses from 9 different college and 34 departments, and is known for its focus on the research and teaching of humanities and social sciences. National Chengchi University offers over 500 courses taught in English every year. Courses are taught by professors from Taiwan as well as other parts of the world.

This program does not offer organized excursions, however a student-run group, the NCCU International Association, plans events and activities for both international and local students. Students do have the opportunity for individual travel. There are over 80 student run clubs for students to get involved in at National Chengchi University. Clubs range from tennis, yoga, meditation, debate, philanthropy, and tea appreciation to name just a few.

Per university policy, all UofSC students will be charged emergency medical, evacuation and repatriation insurance for their time abroad. Contact the Study Abroad Office for more details.

 Student accommodations include on-campus dormitories and off-campus residence halls and independent housing. Student volunteers from the Buddy Program assist students who are interested in off-campus independent housing. Students apply through an online system, and placements are first come first served.

 The Spring semester begins mid-February and runs through the end of June.

There will be an orientation for all exchange students prior to the start of classes. During orientation, students will be given a brief introduction to student life at National Chengchi University as well as register for their pre-approved courses.

 All students must have a valid entry visa in order to study in Taiwan.
