UofSC's exchange with Yonsei University is designed to introduce UofSC students to Asian culture and business practices. Yonsei is the oldest private university in South Korea and UofSC students will study at Yonsei's world-renowned, and AACSB accredited, School of Business. Yonsei is the second-highest ranked university in Korea and is ranked within the top 300 universities in the world, according to the 2011 Academic Ranking of World Universities. Yonsei's main campus is located in a spacious setting minutes away from downtown Seoul's business and cultural hub. The mission of the School of Business is "to produce influential and pioneering research and to develop creative and ethical business leaders with a global perspective through excellent education."

Students typically earn 12-15 USC credit hours per semester. Each semester, Yonsei offers between 200-250 courses taught in English. Business courses are in high demand and students are allowed a maximum of three Business/Economics courses per semester. Students who still have Carolina Core classes remaining like Literature and History, or Chinese Studies minors who are advanced in Chinese language but still need to complete culture classes towards the minor will be the best fit for this program. Yonsei also offers a 6 credit Korean language course at the beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels.

Yonsei offers the Language Exchange, which is an opportunity for exchange students to learn and practice Korean. In addition, Yonsei organizes the International Buddy Program, which promotes interaction between exchange students and local Korean students. The campus also has a "Global Lounge", which provides services to international students, as well as international television, newspapers, magazines, and free wifi. Occasional field trips are also organized that exchange students can take part in. There are numerous student clubs on campus.

Per university policy, all UofSC students will be charged emergency medical, evacuation and repatriation insurance for their time abroad. Contact the Study Abroad Office for more details.

Students may apply to live on-campus at Yonsei in the SK Global House, a multicultural dorm which houses up to 920 international students. Upon acceptance, students will receive information on how to apply for on-campus housing and must submit the application by Yonsei's posted deadline. In cases where students do not receive on-campus housing, Yonsei will assist students in locating off-campus housing.

Yonsei operates on the Korean academic calendar.  Spring semester classes begin in late February and end in mid June.  

Yonsei contracts with two different services who provide airport pick-up for students (approximately $70-80 USD). Upon arrival, Yonsei will provide an orientation for all exchange students.

Students must apply for a D-2 Korean student visa before arriving in Seoul.  Upon arrival in Korea, students will be required to obtain the Certificate of Alien Registration card.
