  • Department of Sport and Entertainment Management Clinical Instructor/Internship Coordinator Matt Dunn received the Blackman-Conard Award for his work with Carolina Productions.
  • Department of Retailing Assistant Professor Md. Rafiqul Islam Rana was awarded the 2022 Innovative Pedagogical Grant from the University of South Carolina Center for Teaching Excellence.
  • Department of Sport and Entertainment Management adjunct instructor and Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center VP/General Manager Cheryl Swanson was named a 2022 All-Star by VenuesNow.
  • Department of Retailing Instructor Mike Watson delivered a lecture at UNC-Charlotte’s Belk College of Business on business ethics and corporate social responsibility.
  • Zach Bendheim (Sport and Entertainment Management, '24) accepted an internship for spring 2023 as the Pro-am and Copperheads intern with  the Valspar Championship in Palm Harbor, Florida.
  • Samantha Carlson (Hospitality Management, '23) accepted a position as Assistant Outlets Manager in Food and Beverage at Omni Austin Hotel Downtown.
  • Owen Craft (Sport and Entertainment Management, '23) accepted a position with the United States Golf Association as the 2023 U.S. Open long-term ticketing operations intern.
  • Beau Harris (Sport and Entertainment Management, '23) accepted a golf operations internship with Pinehurst Resort for spring 2023.
  • Samantha Koval (Hospitality Management, '23) accepted a position at the Country Club of Buffalo as a Banquet Manager following graduation in May.
  • Jillian Nichols (Hospitality Management, '23) accepted a rotational Internship at Omni Nashville Hotel to start after graduation in May 2023.

  • Sophie Aldridge (Sport and Entertainment Management, '21) was promoted to senior associate, programmatic at Neo Media World.
  • Mary Lynn Berilla (Sport and Entertainment Management, '16) was promoted to director, business strategy with the St. Louis Blues.
  • Lydia Campbell (Hospitality Management, '20) started a new position as banquet manager at Greenville Country Club.
  • Madeleine (Madi) Chernick (Retailing - Retail Management, '18) started a new position as senior product merchandiser at TravisMathew Apparel.
  • Nicole Dobson (Sport and Entertainment Management, '19) accepted a new position with the New York Islanders as a sales and service coordinator.
  • Chelsea France (Master of Sport and Entertainment Management, '14) was named head coach for men’s and women’s cross country and track and field at Colgate University.
  • Emma Gargiulo (Sport and Entertainment Management, '18) passed the New York Bar Exam. Emma completed her J.D. at New York Law School earlier this year.
  • Haley Hogan (Master of Sport and Entertainment Management December '22, B.S. Sport and Entertainment Management '21) accepted a position as partnership services coordinator at Gator Sports Properties.
  • Nikki Crabtree Huber (Tourism Management, '14) was named one of the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives’ 40 under 40 for 2022.
  • Hannah Kay (Hospitality Management, '19) was named the Experience Columbia SC Sports employee of the year.
  • Benjamin Kester (Master of Sport and Entertainment Management, December '22) accepted a position as championship operations coordinator with PGA of America.
  • Victor Kidd (Ph.D. Sport and Entertainment Management, '19) started a new position as senior director - clinical services and player well being at Major League Soccer.
  • Christopher Lyles Jr. (Sport and Entertainment Management, '20) started a new position as paid media specialist with Verily.
  • Lauren Martin (Retailing - Retail Management with minors in Hospitality Management and Spanish, '18) won the Outstanding Management Professional award at the Louisville Rose Awards. Lauren is director of housekeeping at the Omni Louisville Hotel.
  • Jared Mundie (Sport and Entertainment Management, '22) started a new position as coordinator, referee operations with the U.S. Soccer Federation.
  • Nikki O’Brien (Sport and Entertainment Management) started a new position as director of promotions marketing, live events with the Harlem Globetrotters
  • Karen O’Neill (Hospitality Management, '97) accepted a new position as vice president, hospitality with Banyan.
  • Ashley Popour (Sport and Entertainment Management, '17) was promoted to ticket sales consultant with the Cincinnati Reds.
  • Katie Schinzel (Sport and Entertainment Management December '22) accepted a position as a membership associate with the Atlanta Hawks Sales Development Program.
  • Lisa Lebovitz Schnaubelt (Hospitality Management, '09) was named to the Atlanta Jewish Times 40 Under 40 list.
  • Matt Seu (Sport and Entertainment Management, '16) started a new position as director of premium sales with the Milwaukee Bucks.
  • JaRonna Singleton (Hospitality Management, '17) started a new position as food and beverage manager at Hotel Indigo.
  • Lucy (Mathes) Wassel (Retailing - Retail Management, '14) started a new position as manager, pricing strategy with The Home Depot.
