  • Professor John Grady’s latest book, Law in Sport Concepts and Cases (5th edition) was published by FiT Publishing.
  • Ph.D. student Ali Iskender, Ercan Sirakaya Turk, David Cardenas and Neşet Hikmet of the College of Engineering and Computing published "Restaurant patrons’ intentions toward QR code menus in the U.S. during COVID-19: acceptance of technology adoption model" in the Journal of Foodservice Business Research.
  • Associate Professor and Ph.D. Program Director Khalid Ballouli was recognized as a 2023 research fellow by the Sport Marketing Association and presided over this year's SMA national conference as the organization's president.
  • Professor John Grady, Professor and Director of Graduate Programs Stephen Shapiro,  Assistant Professor Yongjin Hwang, Ph.D. students Saad Alshamari, Ryan Dastrup, Deukkyung Ock, Michael Seidman and Tsu-Lin Yeh and master's student Colleen Dibble presented research at the Sport Marketing Association’s annual conference.
  • Associate Professor Jung-Hwan Kim was elected chair of the International Textile and Apparel Association (ITAA) Graduate Education Committee.
  • Assistant Professor Md. Rafiqul Islam Rana received two awards at the ITAA’a annual conference: 2022 Student Best Paper  – Doctoral Level and the Kim Johnson Best Doctoral Student Paper Award.
  • Sport and Entertainment Management students Mahaley Gann, Maddi McLean and Max Orsini participated in the case study competition at the Sport Marketing Association’s annual conference.
  • Students Maggie Jones and Presley Mohler, working with Carolina Productions, served as event coordinators for the USC Homecoming concert featuring T-Pain at Colonial Life Arena.
  • The newest cohort of HRSM Student Leadership Program participants completed their training.

  • Brendan Ayres (Hospitality Management, '16) started a new position as revenue manager at Wyndham Hotels & Resorts.
  • Keala Burks (B.S. Hospitality Management '20, Master of International Hospitality and Tourism Management, '22) started a position as operations coordinator for Eco-pliant, a full-service, mission-driven supply company built to help businesses achieve their sustainability goals.
  • Hannah Butler (Sport and Entertainment Management, '18) was promoted to vice president, special events with the Worcester Red Sox.
  • Adriana Chavarry (Retailing - Retail Management, '22) started a new position as a reservations consultant with Belmond.
  • Michael Gheduzzi (Sport and Entertainment Management, '18) started a new position as partnership activation specialist with DraftKings.
  • Lauren Hart (Sport and Entertainment Management, '11) started a new position as head of partnership strategy at Cirque du Soleil.

  • Julian Masters (Retailing - Fashion Merchandising and Digital Innovations, '21) accepted a new position as assistant buyer - women's RTW at Belk Corporate in Charlotte.
  • Averi McNeil (Sport and Entertainment Management, '21) was promoted to Assistant Branch Manager at CSC - Contemporary Services Corporation.
  • Tayler Metivier (Hospitality Management, '19) started a new position as revenue analyst with Hyatt, A Seattle Collection.
  • Sydney Pado (Sport and Entertainment Management, '22) started a new position as graphics broadcast associate at CBS Sports.
  • Anne Reamer (interdisciplinary Studies, '00)  was named Teacher of the Year for Lexington (SC) District Two, 
  • Erica Bujak Vogel (Master of Sport and Entertainment Management, '20) started a new position as donor relations and events manager at the University of South Carolina.
