  • Marketa Kubickova was elected vice president of the ICHRIE (International Council on Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Education) Southeast, Central & South American (SECSA) Federation.
  • Armen Shaomian delivered the keynote address at the Innovation in Music Conference at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, Sweden.
  • Numerous Sport and Entertainment Management faculty members and Ph.D. students presented their research at the 2022 North American Society for Sport Management Conference in Buckhead, Georgia.
  • Students Grace Laria (Sport and Entertainment Management major), Courtney McKinney (Retailing with emphasis in Fashion Merchandising and Digital Innovations major, Sport and Entertainment Management minor), Maya Michiko (Interdisciplinary Studies major) and DeJean Williams (Hospitality Management major) are the 2022 recipients of the College of HRSM Internship Support Scholarship, which was created to provide financial support to students who have secured a competitive internship that provides valuable career experience but is unpaid.

Alumni notes

  • DJ Hauben (Sport and Entertainment Management, ‘14) began an internship in the legal department at Major League Soccer (MLS) headquarters in New York City. DJ will be attending Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law at Arizona State University in the fall, working to earn her J.D. and master's in Sports Law and Business concurrently.
  • Kevin Hellman (Sport and Entertainment Management, ‘14) started a new position as senior account manager with Hirschfeld Marketing Solutions.
  • Emma Dickenson (Retailing - Fashion Merchandising and Digital Innovations, ‘21) was promoted to manager at Fab’rik Lexington. 
  • Brittany Rochester (Sport and Entertainment Management, ‘21) was promoted to junior membership development specialist with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
  • Kelsie Hegarty (Hospitality Management, ‘17) started a new position as manager, meetings and events with the Consumer Brands Association.
  • Jacob Coltrane (Sport and Entertainment Management, ‘18) started a new position as director of scouting and video services with University of Houston women’s basketball.
  • Adam Berrios (Sport and Entertainment Management, ‘10) was promoted to vice president of sales and services with the Little Rock Convention and Visitors Bureau.
  • Katie Arnold (Sport and Entertainment Management, ‘21) started a new position as ticketing coordinator at Red Mountain Entertainment
  • Katie May (Hospitality Management, ‘18) started a new position as human resources generalist at The Atlanta Country Club.
  • Cal Weith (Hospitality Management, ‘20) started a new position as recruitment associate at City Year New Orleans
