  • HRSM Interim Dean David Cárdenas was named the Global Eco Adventures (GEA) Educator of the Year.
  • Tamara Gordon, Kathy Smiling and Tom Regan were each recognized for 30 years of service to the state of South Carolina.
  • Brian Mihalik, William McFall “Mac” Pearce Professor and producer with co-producer, Linda Mihalik, affiliate for the UofSC Center for Teaching Excellence, recently published six 360-degree virtual reality videos covering tourism and sport management topics from national parks to Olympic training and venues.   • Armen Shaomian has been invited to present a lecture-performance at the Alfred Nobel Hall at the House of Sweden (Embassy of Sweden) in Washington, D.C., on Friday May 20. Shaomian will be joined by Professor Janet Hopkins from the School of Music to perform select works that have been curated to define and illustrate the era of National Romanticism in Sweden.
  • Universidad San Francisco de Quito President Diego Quiroga visited campus to deliver a guest lecture on “The Educational Story of the Galapagos.”
  • HRSM hosted the World Food Championships’ Final Table event at McCutchen House.
  • Presley Mohler, a hospitality management major with a sport and entertainment management minor, was inducted into the UofSC Hall of Leaders.
  • Jacob Hoffman, a sport and entertainment management major and May 2022 graduate, received a Caroliniana Award and was inducted into the UofSC Resident Mentor Hall of Fame.
  • The HRSM Global Community Club was a finalist for UofSC Student Organization of the Year.
  • The HRSM CMAA Student Chapter won the National CMAA Recruitment Contest and will receive five free registrations for CMAA World Conference.
  • Hospitality management Ph.D. student Hyunsu Kim received the UofSC Outstanding Graduate Student Researcher Award.
  • The Gamecock iHub team, led by Retailing major Abby Daley, organized and hosted a successful blood drive in partnership with The Blood Connection.
