UofSC announces new combination MBA / MSEM degree

A new graduate degree program offered by the University of South Carolina will allow students to earn Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Sport and Entertainment Management (MSEM) degrees in just two years.

The University of South Carolina is home to some of the best master's degree programs in the nation for sport and entertainment management and business administration. South Carolina’s MBA / MSEM combination degree allows an accelerated path to earning two world-class degrees, maximizing students’ return on investment and career advancement opportunities.

“Students no longer have to pick between an MBA or MSEM if they are interested in both,” says Matt Brown, chair of UofSC’s Department of Sport and Entertainment Management. “This new combination master’s degree provides students with a comprehensive program that will give them a competitive edge in the industry.”

The MBA / MSEM combination degree offers a specialized curriculum with 12 consolidated credit hours to allow students to save money and time. Students would begin the MBA classes first and then continue their course of study through the sport and entertainment master’s degree curriculum. Courses are taught by experienced faculty in subjects ranging from leadership and finance to venue management and sport and entertainment marketing.

“Having one of the top programs in sport and entertainment management now connected directly with the MBA programs will bring an additional industry strength to the Moore School,” says Satish Jayachandran, associate dean for graduate programs at UofSC’s Darla Moore School of Business. “It can create opportunities for an immediate return on investment for students, opening up professional roles where MBA-level skills are highly sought after and compensated for the value they bring to an organization.”

With the No. 1 international MBA in the nation, South Carolina’s Darla Moore School of Business has built a reputation of success for its top-ranked offerings. The one-year MBA program provides a rigorous curriculum designed to have an immediate impact on a student’s career.

The Master of Sport and Entertainment Management (MSEM) degree program is ranked No. 1 in the Southeastern Conference and among the top 20 in the world (SportBusiness 2021). It is based in the acclaimed Department of Sport and Entertainment Management within UofSC's College of Hospitality, Retail and Sport Management.
