Background

Sam Bowen joined the College of Hospitality, Retail and Sport Management as its first video/audio producer in January 2024. Bowen handles the creation of all video content aimed at increasing HRSM's brand visibility and engagement. She leads the production of the college's podcast and assists faculty with course curriculum video asset creation as well.

No stranger to the University of South Carolina, Bowen spent two seasons as the creative media producer for the Gamecock women's basketball team prior to her arrival at HRSM. As the lead content producer for one of the most prominent programs in the country, Bowen developed social media, in-venue and recruiting content. Following the team's national championship in 2022, Bowen conceptualized, captured and produced a 1.5-hour behind-the-scenes docuseries chronicling the team's journey during the season.

Bowen's first full-time position came in College Station, Texas, as a social content correspondent for Texas A&M University. Working with the school's embedded Learfield IMG College staff, she collaborated with sponsored brands at both the local and national levels to develop content that seamlessly integrated their presence with fans through the athletics department's social media platforms. Her work also focused heavily on analytics tracking to provide proof of performance for department sponsors. Bowen's work earned her the Learfield Eddy Rookie of the Year Award for Media and Partnerships in 2021.

As an undergraduate, Bowen kicked off her college career at USC working as a creative content intern with the Gamecocks' award-winning new and creative media department. During her four-year tenure, she gained experience working with all the athletics teams shooting video and still photography that was used to generate content aimed at enhancing online presence and fan engagement.

Bowen graduated from USC in May 2020 with a Bachelor of Arts in visual communications.
