Background

Carol Como joined the College of Hospitality, Retail and Tourism Management as a graduate assistant in fall 2020 as a master's student in the international hospitality and tourism management program. Upon finishing her master's, she joined the college in a full-time capacity in January 2023 as the engaged learning and outreach coordinator with the Richardson Family SmartState Center for Excellence in Tourism and Economic Development.

Como began her career in hospitality at a young age working with Anheuser Busch Theme Parks. She grew her love for the industry by gaining experience through restaurants, hotels and private clubs. Como joined ARAMARK as an intern in college and later enrolled in its management in training program, which brought her to Columbia, S.C. She served as the catering and sales manager at Riverbanks Zoo and Garden upon her arrival and later went into private events with By Invitation Only. After a hiatus from the industry spent in real estate, Como decided to earn her master's from USC.

Before jumpstarting her career in hospitality, Como attended James Madison University and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in hospitality and tourism management.
