Beginning Piano I and II
Weekly group class, 12-week semester, one hour per week*
Level I will be held on Tuesdays, 7:00-8:00 p.m., beginning on September 17, 2024.
Level II will be held in the spring semester.
This intensive two-semester course meets in the state-of-the-art Group Piano Lab and provides a comprehensive introduction to piano playing. Students learn piano technique, staff reading, rhythmic reading, scales and chords and solos. The course also includes creative activities like playing from lead sheets and improvisation.
Student piano requirement: Acoustic piano (preferred) or 88-key digital piano
Practice requirement: a minimum of 30-minutes a day, 4 days a week

Adult Musician Piano Study – 45-minute lessons*
Weekly private lessons, 14-week semester, master class and recital**
This program is designed to meet the unique needs and desires of adult students with an intermediate skill level.** All students participate in either one master class or one recital per semester. Lessons are taught on an acoustic grand piano.
The course content is flexible! Lessons are designed to meet the unique needs and desires of each adult. The course of study can include standard intermediate piano literature, technique, and theory, and/or the study of creative activities and popular music (such as playing by ear and composing).
*If an adult with no prior training cannot take Beginning Piano I & II, the student may enroll in this program.
Student piano requirement: Acoustic piano
Practice requirement: 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week
Students are encouraged to take at least 6 summer lessons. Those who take summer study are given preference in Fall registration.

Adult Artist Piano Study – 60-minute lessons
Weekly private lessons, 14-week semester, master class and recital*
This program is designed to meet the unique needs and desires of adult students with an advancing skill level or for adults who desire an intensive course of study. Students participate in one master class and one recital per semester, and CMTA Achievement Day. Students are also encouraged to participate in the Music Development Program. Lessons are taught on an acoustic grand piano.
Course content includes the traditional study of standard piano literature, technique and keyboard theory.
Student piano requirement: Acoustic piano
Practice requirement: 45-60 minutes a day, 5-6 days a week
Adult students are encouraged to take at least 6 summer lessons. Those who take summer study are given preference in Fall registration.

Piano Lessons for Busy Adults*
Lesson Packages for Flexible Scheduling, 45- or 60- minute lessons**
This program is ideal for adults who desire periodic input and guidance from a teacher while continuing independent study at the piano. The scheduling is flexible, allowing the student to schedule biweekly or monthly lessons. Private lessons are purchased in packages of three lessons (45 or 60 minutes).
Course content includes the traditional study of standard piano literature, technique and keyboard theory.
