USC Percussion Ensemble

The USC Percussion Ensemble, directed by Scott Herring, performs a wide variety of music written expressly for percussion. Selections range from chamber works for three to four performers to works using large forces and many instruments.

The group presents several concerts each year, including a fall and spring semester concert, and a performance at the annual Band Clinic.

The Ensemble has frequent opportunities to perform with visiting guest artists hosted by the percussion program and has been selected to perform numerous events across the region.

The USC Percussion Ensemble has won the Percussive Arts Society International Percussion Ensemble Competition (IPEC) three times, including 2021 and 2024. This award is the pinnacle achievement for the percussion ensemble art form.  To learn more about this accomplishment, click here.
