Graduate Choral Studies

At the University of South Carolina School of Music, we provide a supportive environment that facilitates rigorous study and musical growth. The faculty works collaboratively to offer maximum opportunities for each student’s development. Graduate students encounter a genuinely collegial environment within their cohort, and across disciplines in the School of Music.

Vocal/Instrumental Conducting Seminar (1 semester course)
This innovative course is taught collaboratively by the choral, opera, orchestral and wind conducting faculty.

On campus auditions are held each February 

Sample Audition Day:

  • Interview with faculty
    • Vocal audition
    • Choral Literature diagnostic exam
    • Keyboard diagnostic exam
  • Lunch with current graduate students
  • Individual conducting coaching
  • Rehearsal/audition with SATB ensemble


Pre-screening requirements remain the same. Applicants who are invited to audition will do so virtually. Contact Dr. Walker for more details.
