How to Apply to UofSC School of Music
Interested in applying for admission to the University of South Carolina School of Music? Follow this simple three-step process.
1. Apply for admission to the university through the University of South Carolina Office of Admissions.
You should apply online for admission to UofSC. Prospective students are automatically reviewed for UofSC’s academic scholarships when they submit an application in accordance with UofSC’s application deadlines.
2. Complete the School of Music Application.
Applicants will gain access to the Music Application through the UofSC Admissions portal within 24 hours of submitting their UofSC Application. Applicants who select music as their primary or secondary choice major will receive an email from the School of Music, inviting them to complete the Music Application.
*Non-music majors and current UofSC students who wish to audition for the School of Music must contact Jennifer Mitchell at email@example.com to gain access to the Music Application.
3. Complete a music audition for the UofSC School of Music.
Audition materials must be submitted using the Music tab within the UofSC Admission portal. Applicants will gain access to the Music tab within 24 hours of submitting their Music Application.
An audition is required for you to be considered for admission to the School of Music as a music major and for scholarship awards. You do not need to know for certain whether your application was accepted or denied prior to submitting your audition materials. Most applicants will find their UofSC applications are still pending when they perform/submit their audition.
It is important to submit all required audition materials by February 15th for admissions and music scholarship consideration. Remember that you will need to be accepted by both the university and the School of Music in order to enroll as a music major at UofSC.
A note for transfer students:
Prospective transfer students can apply for admission to UofSC as late as the summer before they plan to attend in the fall, but those students should submit all audition materials by February 15th to be considered for a music scholarship and admission to the School of Music. An audition is required to be reviewed for admission. Students will not be permitted to enroll in the School of Music without a qualifying audition on record. Applicants who submit audition materials after the February 15th deadline will be reviewed for admission and scholarship on the basis of space and budget availability.
