Music Advocacy I  (MUSC 100A)
An introduction to advocacy methods, techniques and experiences needed to understand the positive effects of music in American society.

Entrepreneurship in Music  (MUSC 580)
Emphasizing entrepreneurial skills necessary to become a successful professional in today's quickly changing world, this experiential project-based class has teams of students imagine, design and execute a real arts-based initiative and then compete for cash awards.

Music and Money  (MUSC 582)
This course focuses on personal finance, business finance and raising capital by examining the many ways that money flows in and out of the life of a musician.

Business of Independent Music Teaching  (MUSC 588)
Build an independent music teaching studio that reaches your financial goals while amplifying impact. Explore a variety of income streams, business model considerations, and engagement techniques that distinguish your program.

Music Leadership Practicum  (MUSC 590)
In this capstone course, students in the music entrepreneurship minor design and execute an entrepreneurial, music leadership project in the community.

The 21st-Century Performer  (MUSC 592)
Community engagement, teaching artistry, concert and tour booking, attracting audiences and extra-musical elements (i.e. programming, visual elements, inter-disciplinary collaboration, audience interaction) that make contemporary performances effective today.

Arts Marketing  (MUSC 593)
Arts marketing techniques for independent artists and small arts organizations with a focus on guerrilla, viral, internet and permission marketing. Participants create marketing plans for local arts-based businesses.

Community Engagement Through Music  (MUSC 595)
Study of community engagement as it relates to music, with a focus on developing practical skills in creating engaging, interactive performances for various audiences.  Includes an overview of the emerging field, and culminates in a performance created with a local partner.

College Music Teaching  (MUED 793)
Prepares students to understand trends in higher education, job requirements, innovative and effective teaching approaches, new roles of technology and what it take to get a job.
